Third place - The Sound of Drums - the US president has been assassinated in front of millions, the newly elected Prime Minister has finally revealed his policies, the Doctor, Jack, and Martha's family are in the clutches of the Master, billions of the mysterious Toclafane are descending to Earth and decimating the world's population..... and it's down to Martha Jones to save the day.

Second place - Human Nature - a human, memory-impaired Doctor is at the village dance with the nurse from the local school. But the Family of Blood insist that he is the one who can prolong their lifespans, and he must choose between saving the life of nurse Joan Redfern, and his maid/ companion Martha Jones.

WINNER - Utopia - the Professor has opened the pocketwatch. His true identity has been released, and a fatal wound has caused him to regenerate. He's stolen the TARDIS, left the Doctor, Martha and Jack stranded at the end of the universe with the viscious futurekind... the future's not looking good at all.

Most Unnecessary Mention Of Rose Tyler

Third place - Last of the Timelords - the Master calls Martha useless in comparison to the Doctor's previous companions, pointing out that Rose could absorb the time vortex (and was perfectly fine afterwards but when the Doctor had to regenerate. Why, Russell, why?).

Second place - The Shakespeare Code - the Doctor comes over all out of character for a moment when Martha can't supply the answer he's looking for. Rose would have known, apparently.

WINNER - Daleks in Manhattan - Martha knows that it's not her the Doctor sees sometimes, in a girly chat with Tallulah.
