It has been announced at the Red Nose Day press launch that David will be presenting the first
hour of Comic Relief with Davina McCall.
In a pre-recorded video screened at The Empire Cinema, Leicester Square, he said: "It’s a great honour
for me. I remember the first Red Nose Day when I was at school, buying the t-shirt and everyone joining in, And then, later,
at drama school, me and my mate Alan McCue formed a Proclaimers tribute act and went busking in Sauchiehall Street. We were
rubbish, but earned £65 in our lunch hour. The people of Glasgow are very generous."
Comic Relief will air on Friday 13th March at 19:00pm.
The BFI are offering the chance for you to compare the live 1953 version
of The Quatermass Experiment with the live 2005 broadcast, which featured David as Dr Gordon Briscoe, and then question
the Director Sam Miller, the producer Alison Willett and the executive Producer Richard Fell after the screening about how
they reinvented this classic and why they wanted to follow in the live TV drama tradition.
The screening takes place on Tuesday 10th February at 20:00pm and you can
book tickets on the BFI website here.

Don't forget to tune in to BBC One tonight at 9pm to hear David narrating the second part of Swarm.
Details of the episode are as follows:
In the first program we saw how animal swarms collide with our world.
This time the intelligence behind such mass invasions is explored. When swarms gather, they generate a mysterious swarm intelligence,
communicating and learning in amazing ways. Bees hold commitee meetings to discuss new nesting sites, flocks of quelea
learn from each other where to find the best food, fire ants even use their own bodies to form a raft and escape when their
nest is destroyed by floods. All unite as one and act like a giant organism controlled by a single brain. One newly discovered
swarm may even use its united strength to save the planet from the greenhouse effect! The superorganism can accomplish far
more than the sum of its parts. As in program 1, real-life footage combined with state of the art high-speed camera techniques
shows the complexity of the superorganism, and how this intelligent being affects us and the planet.

New Doctor Who Novels For September 2009

The BBC have released the details of three new Doctor Who novels, featuring David as the Tenth Doctor,
that will be released in September. They are as follows:
Autonomy – Daniel Blythe
Hyperville is 2013's top hi-tech 24-hour entertainment
complex – a sprawling palace of fun under one massive roof. You can shop, or experience the excitement of Doomcastle,
Winterland, or Wild West World. But things are about to get a lot more exciting – and dangerous...
What unspeakable
horror is lurking on Level Zero of Hyperville? And what will happen when the entire complex goes over to Central Computer
Control?
For years, the Nestene Consciousness has been waiting and planning, recovering from its wounds. But now it’s
ready, and it’s deadly plastic Autons are already in place around the complex. Now more than ever, visiting Hyperville
will be an unforgettable experience...
The Taking of Chelsea 426 by David Llewellyn
The Chelsea Flower Show – Hardly
the most exciting or dangerous event in the calendar, or so the Doctor thinks. But this is Chelsea 426, a city-sized future
colony floating on the clouds of Saturn, and the flowers are much more than they seem.
As the Doctor investigates,
he becomes more and more worried. Why is shopkeeper Mr Pemberton acting so strangely? And what is Professor Wilberforce’s
terrible secret?
They are close to finding the answers when a familiar foe arrives, and the stakes suddenly get much
higher. The Sontarans have plans of their own, and they’re not here to arrange flowers...
The Krillitane Storm by Christopher Cooper
When the TARDIS materialises in medieval
Worcester, the Doctor finds the city seemingly deserted. He soon discovers its population are living in a state of terror,
afraid to leave their homes after dark, for fear of meeting their doom at the hands of the legendary Devil’s Huntsman.
For
months, people have been disappearing, and the Sheriff has imposed a strict curfew across the city, his militia maintaining
control over the superstitious populace with a firm hand, closing the city to outsiders. Is it fear of attack from beyond
the city walls that drives him or the threat closer to home? Or does the Sheriff have something to hide?
After a terrifying
encounter with a deadly Krillitane, the Doctor realises the city has good reason to be scared.

Thousands of killer bees invade a football pitch, millions of mice wipe out a harvest, huge fish shoals leaping into

David Talks About The 11th Doctor
The above is a clip from Doctor Who Confidential and features David talking about the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith, and what
it was like when he landed the role of the 10th Doctor.
The above clip of David talking about the 11th Doctor was broadcast on the BBC News earlier this evening.
The 11th Doctor Is Revealed
The BBC today announced that Matt Smith has been cast in the role of the Doctor in the iconic BBC series Doctor Who. Smith
will be the eleventh Time Lord and will take over from David Tennant who leaves the show at the end of 2009. He will be seen
in the forthcoming fifth series that will be broadcast in 2010.
The fifth series will also have a new lead writer and Executive Producer in the form of the BAFTA award winning writer
Steven Moffat who is taking over from Russell T Davies. Moffat will be joined by Piers Wenger who will be the new Executive
Producer for BBC Wales making the show.
Following David Tennant's decision to step down at the end of 2009, the team behind the new series set about casting the
new Doctor so that new adventures could be created and scripts written with Matt in mind.
The identity of the new Doctor was revealed on a special edition of Doctor Who Confidential that was broadcast on BBC One
on January 3rd at 17.35hrs. In it Smith revealed his initial reaction at taking on such a legendary role and his thoughts
on what direction the Doctor might now be going with him playing the part.
Matt Smith said of his new role "I'm just so excited about the journey that is in front of me. It's a wonderful privilege
and challenge that I hope I will thrive on. I feel proud and honoured to have been given this opportunity to join a team of
people that has worked so tirelessly to make the show so thrilling.
"David Tennant has made the role his own, brilliantly with grace, talent and persistent dedication. I hope to learn from
the standards set by him. The challenge for me is to do justice to the show's illustrious past, my predecessors and most importantly
to those who watch it. I really cannot wait."
Lead writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat said "The Doctor is a very special part, and it takes a very special actor
to play him. You need to be old and young at the same time, a boffin and an action hero, a cheeky schoolboy and the wise old
man of the universe. As soon as Matt walked through the door and blew us away with a bold and brand new take on the Time Lord,
we knew we had our man. 2010 is a long time away but rest assured the Eleventh Doctor is coming - and the universe has never
been so safe."
Piers Wenger, Head Of Drama, BBC Wales added "With two hearts, a ferocious mind and over 900 years of experience behind
him, it's not every 26 year old actor who can take on a role like the Doctor but within moments of meeting Matt he showed
the skill and imagination needed to create a Doctor all of his own.
It's just the beginning of the journey for Matt but with Steven Moffat's scripts and the expertise of the production team
in Cardiff behind him, there is no one more perfect than him to be taking the TARDIS to exciting new futures when the series
returns in 2010."
Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama added "I am delighted to see Matt take on this iconic role. It will see him continuing
his relationship with the BBC following his performances in Ruby In The Smoke and Party Animals, and his upcoming role in
Moses Jones. The combination of Matt, Steven and Piers will, I know, take Doctor Who onto new and even dizzier heights."
Jay Hunt, Controller. BBC ONE said "Matt Smith will be a mesmerising eleventh Time Lord, true to the spirit of the show.
He is a worthy successor to David Tennant who has been utterly remarkable in the role and promises to continue to be in next
year's four special episodes."

Following the announcement in October that David Tennant would be stepping down from his role as the Doctor at the end

With a new creative team in place for the new series led by Executive Producers Steven Moffat and Piers Wenger, the casting
of the new Doctor was job number one to be completed before scripts could be finalised and shooting could begin in summer
2009.

initial reaction to being the new, eleventh incarnation of one of television's most loved characters.

We believe the actor is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it absolutely their own - I just can't
